Aspiring Content Creators: Create More, Consume Less

This article was published in my WordPress blog on November 16th 2019.

The last time I have posted on my Instagram feed was on 23rd October, which was 22 days ago. A few days before posting that image, my mind got into a glut and built up of utter confusion and chaos due to various things that were bothering me.  Lost in those myriad thoughts and confusion, I went on a small spending spree, but somehow I controlled myself and ended up purchasing things that I actually needed. Instagram seemed to depress me further with lucid posts and wonderful experiences of random people on the internet, which eventually confused me even further; it seemed as if everyone was having a fantastic time and enjoying fantastic experiences. I took a break from Instagram and ended up on another behemoth… YouTube! Most of my focus was on the new go pro 8, the iPhone 11 and motorcycles, after a few days, I started adding on the genre of motivational, inspirational and hustling videos. The hustling videos were the one that had its immediate impact on me; I ended up losing sleep which kept me drained during my office hours. With all this rampant consumption of media and all these thoughts in my head, my sleep quality deteriorated a lot. The second negative impact was that I felt like I needed better gear to produce wonderful content (to show off to the world). I felt the need for a better phone so that I can capture amazing snaps and non-shaky videos whenever I couldn’t pack my heavy DSLR, my 2 year old phone felt like a worthless piece of equipment to me. Which eventually led me to the decision of buying an iPhone 11 or an 11 Pro; it meant that I had to shed out almost INR 60,000 or more. I had a discussion with my friend in the US, who agreed to bring me a phone; the stage was set and I started checking out cases for my new phone. Luckily that is when my rational minded angel asked me “do you really need that phone?” … you know, my wife is just brilliant when it comes to rational decisions like this. Listening to her advice, I thought about it and started researching about the phone and whether I can make do well enough with my current gears’. I found out that I will never be satisfied with the sensor quality of a phone camera because in the back of my mind, the reference point will be always that of a DSLR  and moreover I had a gimbal for my phone which I rarely used.
At this point I started searching for content that was made on devices that were considerably cheaper than what I own, I also came across a lot of videos that sends out a positive message that gear does matter when things become professional, but in the starting stages of your creator journey, it is more than enough to keep creating content with what you currently have in your hand.
Once again I started taking more and more snaps and videos just for the pure joy of it and I seemed to enjoy it. All these photos were captured on my OnePlus 5, which would cost 12000 or 13000 INR on the second hand market now. I never had the intention to share these photos when I took them, but I felt the need to tell this story more and, what better way to do it than to showcase some images I captured. I think the problem with aspiring content creators is that we tend to consume content much more than what we create.
All these snaps were captured in and around Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, India and edited on the phone itself using Snapseed. (Instagram link to the post: https://www.instagram.com/p/B471HR6gumG/)
I really appreciate those of you who have spent some valuable time of yours to read my thoughts. Thank you so much.

On Marriage - My Personal Experience with the Indian Society

Recently I got married to my girlfriend. Only when the both of us were left alone that we felt normal like we used to feel.

Marriages in India are a huge thing, the families are united and there are a lot of functions and rituals. Even though it was considerably minimal in our case, it still made us choke especially my wife. I could feel her uneasiness whenever she was faced with a set of standardized questions and so called “facts of life”. Let me share some of those… what have you cooked after you went to your husband’s home? Did you even prepare a cup of tea for your husband and your in- laws? What sort of dishes do you know to prepare? And the facts went like: “you should take care of your husband”, “you should wash his clothes” and so on. I was disturbed but I was the type who never showed public discord unless my temper gets the best of me; so I was a silent observer to all these madness. I felt helpless, and I understood her helplessness, fatigue and the mental torture she faced. She was highly disturbed and I understood the need to be supportive at this stage rather than becoming angry at her unexplained moody behaviours and tantrums in our only private space for many days – our bedroom. I wondered how it would impact and influence thoughts of a man in case of an arranged marriage having no past experience of knowing each other; the thing that made me wonder so was talks from everyone when we were visiting them; that she doesn’t know how to cook, doesn’t know how to take care of a family and so on. To be honest, it was nothing but a portrayal of how incapable she was, a woman I know to be entirely opposite and how I admired her for being capable of a million things.
Well then let us talk about how people behaved with me; my parents were normal and I was at the comfort of my house. Everywhere else I was like a prince, being fed, taken care of, discussing “manly” things, telling me to make her do things. I was highly uncomfortable as I was raised to wash my own plates, my clothes (of course my Mom used to wash it when I was young, after which it was just orders to wash them), clean my own room or live in a dirty room and so on. I was allowed to prepare food in the kitchen to loiter around in the kitchen and observe the process of cooking, there were days when I would prepare some dish for the family too. Which in turn led me to an interest in cooking, I can say that I would be able to prepare a whole meal for a family or when friends and family come over. Now let me highlight the importance of this background history about me which I just shared. I was shocked to hear from my colleagues and friends that their mothers still do their laundry, the ages of the people I mention here ranges from 25 to 28, I understood that many of my male friends were not allowed into the kitchen saying that it is a woman’s place and cooking is the “duty” of women. I am no psychologist but I don’t need to be one to understand the attitude of these kind of male children when they become men and I believe I don’t have to explain it here.
Suddenly it struck up on me that it was indeed the “prince and the maid” as my wife mentioned earlier and not the fairy-tale version that we read while growing up. This doesn’t mean that only girl children are treated in a different way. Male children are raised in a terrible manner too, the usual words we hear are “don’t cry like a girl, only girls cry”, “don’t run like a girl”, “don’t walk like a girl”, “don’t talk like a girl” and so on, whatever is negative (the word don’t) has been associated with a girl, portraying them mainly as physically and emotionally weak. After a certain age I found it quite amusing as tears would form in my eyes if I see a movie scene where a son and father hugs, yeah talk to me about not crying! I used to cry a lot and it made me emotionally strong rather than weak, there is a magic to crying, with the tears your sadness seems to flow away too. What children observe are their mothers waking up in the morning, making tea, breakfast, and lunch, pack it in boxes etc. and that is irrespective of being a working or non-working mother. Working mothers seems to have no personal time of their own except on holidays, that too for a few hours. A male child sees a woman as the one who does all the household chores, father as the one who decides everything and be authoritative in every aspect. Let me ask you one question, who doesn’t like being a boss, having an authoritative power over other people? That is precisely what a male child learns to become until he starts to think for himself or unless he is not observing the above mentioned trend.
Going into a marriage a man expects a million things from his wife, coupled with that, in case it is an arranged marriage what option does women have? Take a moment and just imagine being in their shoes. Imagine that after marriage you are supposed to stay at her home, you are expected to wake up early, make tea for everyone, do household chores, do your wife’s laundry, iron your wife’s clothes, prepare and pack lunch for your wife and in laws, get ready after that, tell sorry to your wife and family for making them wait because you got ready late, go to work, get exhausted, come back home and prepare tea for everyone, cook and clean the utensils and after everything, when you are tired and you just want to rest no matter what, your wife is lying in the bed demanding to make love and forcing herself on you when you have to do these things the very next day.
Another thing that always amused me were the wife jokes and memes that floats around in our social media. When the woman in question is a man’s mother, she is seen as dignified, provider of love and care, the warmth and so on, as soon as she’s on the other side and is a wife, things just change; she is nagging, short tempered, overly possessive etc… From what I have observed throughout my life so far are women sacrificing their dreams and career so that a man can pursue his. I am in no way saying a man shouldn’t, but if there needs to be some sacrifice, shouldn’t there be a balanced approach to that too.
I for one want these to change and I strongly believe there are a lot of people who are on the same boat as I am. In my opinion, for these to change each one of us have to change so that the next generation can visualize and learn from us, at home let the husband and wife share the work, let your children (both male & female) get involved in activities, tell your children to clean their rooms even if you have a maid, tell them to clean the dishes they use. Teach them how to wash clothes, to help in cooking, cleaning and household chores. Let your children observe and learn that a husband and wife are sharing equal responsibilities in a household.
I would also like to add on that it is quite easy to give your smartphone/ tablet/ computer to your young ones so that they won’t demand too much attention from you. When they demand phones, put it away and go play with them, play board games with them, read books to them, just repeat what our parents did to us in this aspect. A particular emphasis on this point is required as the content on the internet and television is just nothing short of trash these days (I don’t deny that there is good content but a major chunk of today’s entertainment shows/ cartoons/ videos are too stereotypical and short sighted). Above all, let your children know how to be a good human being, because that is not something good grades and rich lifestyle alone can fetch.

Environmental Responsibility

I want to write this post as an Indian to my fellow Indians after observing something which touched my heart.

How often have we seen boards and signals in many places not to throw waste, we refuse to obey it. Most people say that there is simply no space or a dustbin to dispose a plastic bottle or a chocolate wrapper. I do agree that our waste management is poor; but I am not talking about waste management.
Aren’t we responsible for the environment that we live in?
Aren’t we responsible for the future generation’s opportunity to enjoy nature/ environment as we enjoyed it or even more than what we did?
Yes, we are responsible for both, I do not intend to enlighten you with facts about plastic, but think about your own children, do you think they are drinking good water, if you do; aren’t we the ones who polluted the sources? Each and every one of us? Similarly we have been polluting nature in many ways.
I have observed that people refuse to use a dustbin even when there is one. Near to where I stay right now, there are two large bins for throwing waste which will be emptied in the morning. People are still reluctant to walk extra few meters to drop waste into those bins, rather they prefer to throw it around in a manner that is convenient for them.
We all know how filthy our Cities and Towns are despite it sporting a clean look at main city areas, I do not wish to elaborate on it further. However I would like to bring forward an experience from my trip to Athirapally Waterfall, while climbing down it was quite visible that the people have been throwing all kinds of trash in the way from plastic to degradable waste. All I could do was notice and feel irritated. But on my way back I came across a woman from France who was picking up plastic waste and collecting it in a plastic cover which someone has thrown away. I was humbled by her and she made me look like a worthless human. My initial thoughts were honestly to walk by just like everyone else, but some instinct kicked in me and I helped her collect the waste and throw it in the bin allotted for the very purpose.
It brings us to the question, are we doing enough to keep our surroundings safe and pollution free for the current generation, the next generation and for all life on earth. I stop this post here for you to think further on this issue

Never Stopped Writing Altogether - A Lot of Things have Changed after 2015

As I glanced through this blog recently, I saw that I have not posted anything after 2015. A lot of things have changed and things are going on well. I do not know whether anyone would even read this.

Anyway, I started another blog at WordPress https://ravinchandra.wordpress.com/, take a look at it. I intend to publish the same articles in this blog too.

To be honest, I have been writing many things but could not finish most of what I have wrote in the past 3/4 years except a few articles or posts. I hope I will keep writing and publishing content in my blog.

The Brick Wall - Part One: Hitting It and Staying There

Before starting this, I would like to warn you that, the paragraphs or sentences may not have any connection. But it will be still in a readable and understandable form. Please bear with me for my bad usage of English and inaccurate writing style if you intend to read further.

At some point in our lives we tend to hit a brick wall. It feels like there is nothing beyond it. That feeling pulls us apart mentally and emotionally, builds up the feeling of despair. It will haunt you pretty bad. It will make you lazy, distracted, and some tend to put on weight.

In this world we want a lot of things, we want to own many things. My friend has a bigger car, a better motorbike, a better smartphone... Yes, that can be a pressure. We want a good job that pays well, find a good spouse, have a good family life and so on. But it seems like a distant dream. In every country the situation is different, so external factors differ. I intend to look upon those about India in a different article. But still the internal factor is mostly the same.

Every single day is a day of shame, waking up with high spirits, or should I say going to bed the previous day with high spirits, waking up and realising that you still don't feel those high spirits you felt the previous night, so no exercise today, no walking, no reading the newspaper, just sulking in my room not knowing what to do, feeling restrained monetarily and emotionally, feeling let down... Yet you still wake up, have a cup of tea, then you realise you have nowhere else to go, unemployed!

I don't have money, I am ashamed to ask my parents for it, my friends... So what about the new car? That new smartphone? Well that's a distant dream now. Then you feel like reading something or doing something to get yourself a job, the rusted brain gifts us with a high inertia to get up and do it, we prefer the couch mode, its easier to stretch legs and watch television and eat. Who cares? I don't have to pay the Cable Bill, the Electricity Bill, the couch can take my weight...

Choices and the blame game.

Next comes the blame game that develops in our mind, we feed it, we dwell in the past and that adds fuel to the fire and finally we unleash it on someone who cares for us a lot, if you are married, your spouse, else girlfriends/ boyfriends, parents, they all have to cope with your emotional outburst. That's when they finally know you are in a bad state. Instead of doing this we could have gone to them and talked about it, it really would have been less painful for us and them, Yes, we thought we shouldn't trouble others.
Life is full of choices and people, people have different opinion, people share it, But... we can make our choices and go ahead... But we didn't. So we can't blame them for where we landed. We dreamt of landing in the Swiss Alps, but here we are in Guantanamo Bay, it was our plane to fly, not a simulation game to let others use the joystick, we chose to make it a simulation game rather than taking the pain to learn to fly. Humans search for comfort. We are wired that way, but sometimes you need to make the choices on your own.

Then we finally start to walk and move trying to break the inertia but we feel the G Force pulling us back down, yet we manage it somehow, but the cycle ends soon and we are still in neck deep depression. Bailing us out can help, but professional hands are better. Meeting a psychiatrist doesn't mean you are a mental patient. You need help. Some just catch up from there, while some take it in and flush it out, whereas the majority won't go.

So there we stay depressed facing the wall, not knowing what to do, yes we chose bad and we really want to get out of this but we can't, I know that its easy for people to say work hard you are just lazy, but for them I have to say, It is a little bit beyond laziness.

I will be writing the second part soon. Thanks for reading, comments are welcome.

Why having a dropbox or google drive might be good.

Well mom you were right!
I'm not intending to go story mode on this post. What happened was during the month of April my laptop stopped working. Took it to the respectable service center.
Yes! Motherboard needs to be changed. Just 14k, I'm already a statistic called unemployment so this burned a whole in my heart or I may say it felt like Thor's hammer hit me. Okay, we understand your worry we'll search for a second hand board.
Today my desktop PC refused to start. Well I can't help but think how unreliable our technology is. All my collected PDFs some ideas of mine which I thought of turning into an article all gone.
Ya mom you were right, I should've took printouts of all the photographs which really mattered. I'm sorry... I'll try my best to recover them somehow.
What about others? People might think I'm cooking up lame excuses and avoiding duties. No words to say!
So, I think having a Dropbox or some online backup might be good unless you're going through a ground breaking research work which is going to change the world.
Yes dad you were right too in stacking up newspaper articles.
PS1: my laptop is still a piece of LCD plastics and some silicon chips.
PS2: This is from my smartphone... I hope at least this will be in a good shape.

Pornography and Sex Education

India is a country where parents seldom talk about sex (sexual intercourse or about the body) to their children (I don’t know about other countries). Sex is seen as an evil in the sub-continent. Let us also accept the fact that pornography is out there and it’s almost inevitable to come across it. Children are exposed to pornography probably near the ages of 13 to 18. Thus pornography is their first form of sex education. What sort of porn can one come across? Just google keywords like porn, sex videos, xxx videos or something likewise. You’ll be baffled at the results displayed. Almost all of the websites contain ‘hardcore pornography’. According to Wikipedia “Hardcore pornography contains graphic sexual activity and visible penetration” (It’s actually more than that). It is disgusting compared with sexual intercourse.

Let’s talk about pornography. Sex is a beautiful part of human life, but pornography makes it vulgar. Hardcore pornography or most of the porn out there portray women and men having endless sex in unimaginable ways. It displays many things which are not part of sexual intercourse. Simply put, it’s nothing more than rape. Gender discrimination is not alien to this industry, male ego runs through the vein of pornography too. It shows women doing things beyond our wildest imagination, oral sex (which is acceptable and practiced by many couples) is taken beyond boundaries, anal sex, fisting…. The list goes on.

We lack sex education, which takes things to the next level. Teenagers and men (yes it’s mostly the male gender) take it for granted that pornography and sex are one and the same. Naturally, they expect what they see from their partners. Women are abused, men (even boys) want to satisfy their sexual desire, which leads to rapes.

Pornography is a billion dollar industry, supported (indirectly) by ISPs, Search Engines and Telecom Networks.  So thinking about cutting off access to children is too late, it’s like a deadly incurable virus. It is available in anyone’s fingertips these days. Of course, several filters can block access to these websites, but the question is, for how long? Won’t He/ She come across it through some means or the other? The sad part of the story being the cold response from the Government, Judiciary and DoT to address this issue. At least they could have stopped people from uploading self-shot or leaked videos (by accident or purpose). It will cost a lot to put a check on these, but I believe it would be worth every single paisa spent.

Sex is not a bad thing, it is a natural phenomenon. So, talking to children about is not bad either (doesn’t mean one has to provide graphic details). They need to know the right thing, they must respect their own bodies, boys (men too) must respect women’s bodies and vice versa. Parents do have limitations when it comes to matters like this. But when faced with a question of “how I was born?” they can to do better than “you came from the belly”. Tell children “you were born because of our love” when they get bigger talk to them about it, let them know that doing what they see in porn can lead to pregnancy. Let girls say “No” to their boyfriends until they think they are ready to do it, or let them do it properly with precautions when they do it. (By no means I’m suggesting that we should have a sex oriented society or highly westernised views or that we should encourage pre-marital sex. Also I’m not of the view that it is a crime to fall in love and chose a mate to share one’s life with). Having a formal form of sex education is the need of the hour (proper use of technology can also be taught). It could possibly save the coming generations. It might stop rapes to a certain level in the coming years. Children must know and realise the ill effects of porn, and what it does to the brain. They must distinguish between right and wrong. We have to check the uncontrolled toll porn takes.

I sincerely hope that Government(s) would take up these issues seriously and do something about it with all due importance it deserves.

THE MESS - Aloo, Cat and Corruption

One can understand the relevance of Aloo(Potato) here, but what's with the 'Cat' and 'Corruption'? (well may be one can guess about corruption too). I know this doesn't make any sense to you. Again, it'd make sense to the residents of Men's Hostels J & K, University of Hyderabad.

Lemme get to the point(s):

Aloo - It goes like this
                                        "Aloo Aloo in all curries
                                         Aloo Aloo every day...
                                         But...
                                         Seldom do we find you,
                                         in Aloo Paratha..."
Ya! that's how it is. Every Sunday morning we hunt for Aloo's in Aloo Paratha. Don't worry dear one's you'll find a hand-full of Aloos every day, in all curries - during Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Cheers to the mess(Aloo) secretary!

Now, about the cat

If you want to eat something after 8.15/8.30 PM, please visit the mess for "Special" Cat licked rice, may be pooped too... Yuck!! To support this awesome fact I have a picture.

As a matter of fact there are "Just" 3/4 cat's in the mess. The awesome part being the love and care given to the "dear" cat's by mess workers and some of our loving bhaiyyas(brothers). How Romantic...

Corruption: C'mon this is Incredible India!
Mess Secretaries grow rich at the end of their one month tenure, they receive great support from our dear mess workers and shopkeeper's are proud to provide them with fake bills. Kudos to the Mess Secretaries ... err.. Aloo Secretaries.
                                                   _________PEACE________
                                            Always stare at a spectacle

2011 Census: A Brief Summary

According to the provisional results of the 2011 census, released on 31st March 2011, India’s population as on first March 2011 was 1210million. This is a humongous population, than the size projected by experts and professional organisations.
Population Growth
Between the census years 2001 and 2011, the absolute addition to the population was 181 million. The average annual growth rate was 0.33% points less than the rate observed during 1991 – 2001. If the fall in growth rate over the last two decades continues, then there is every reason to believe that, the rate of growth of population would be much lower in the coming decades.
Though the growth rate has declined compared to the previous decade of 1991 – 2001, there was only a marginal decline in the absolute number of people added to the population total. This is not unexpected as there is still a growing number of women entering the reproductive ages (the result of high fertility in the past). This inbuilt tendency for India’s population to grow will continue at least until the middle of this century.
The average annual growth rate of population declined in all major states except in Tamil Nadu, it may be the result of growth in net in-migration into Tamil Nadu during 2001 – 2011. The other notable in-migration major states are Haryana, Maharashtra and Gujarat. In contrast, Kerala continues to be a net exporter of people to elsewhere in India and overseas.
Literacy
The provisional population figure of 2011 census shows a marked improvement in literacy rate. The effective literacy rate (literacy rate in population aged above 7 years of age) increased from 64.8% to 74% over the decade 2001 – 2011. Although the improvement was significant for both males and females, females gained more than males (increase of literacy rate from 75.3% - 82.1% for males and from 53.4% - 65.46% for females).
Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir had a lower achievement level in literacy in 2001, ranking low at the bottom; they all stood at higher ranks with respect to improvement in literacy during the decade 2001 – 2011. On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan performed poorly with respect to other states.
Gender Composition
The overall sex ratio at the national level has increased by 7 points to reach 940 at census 2011 as against 933 in census 2001. This is the highest sex ratio recorded since 1971 and a shade lower than 1961. Increase in sex ratio is observed in 29 states/Union Territories. Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and Gujarat have shown decline in sex ratio as compared to census 2001. Kerala with 1084 has the highest sex ratio followed by Puducherry with 1038 while Daman and Diu has the lowest sex ratio of 618. The most important contributor to overall increase in sex ratio is improvement in survival rate among women.
Decline in Child Sex Ratio
As was the case during the 1990’s the increase in population sex ratio was almost entirely due to the increase in sex ratio among the population aged 7 and above. But the sex ratio for the population aged 0-6 years continued to decline from 945 females per 1000 males in 1991, to 927 in 2001 and further down to 914 in 2011. In spite of an increase between 2001 and 2011, Punjab and Haryana have the lowest sex ratio (less than 850) among 0-6 year olds in 2011. All the major states except Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu recorded increase in male population in their under seven population. The largest decline was in Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Conclusion
The provisional population figures of the 2011 census do suggest that India’s population growth is slowing down. Although the total population size exceeded more projections, the growth rate has slowed compared to the 1990’s. This is largely due to further declines in fertility throughout the 2000’s in the populous states in Northern India.
Studies have consistently shown that the long-term solution for eliminating discrimination against female discrimination against female children lies in bringing about transformative changes in social institutions and family. The continuous gains in female literacy over last two decades are signs that far-reaching social changes are under way. Early 20th century experience shows that secondary education for all is essential for women’s empowerment. In women’s empowerment lie the answer to India’s population and developmental problems.

Water Pollution

Water Pollution, contamination of water by foreign matter such as micro-organisms, chemicals, industrial or other wastes, or sewage. Such matter deteriorates the quality of the water and renders it unfit for its intended uses.

MAJOR POLLUTANTS

The major pollutants of water are the following:

• Sewage and other oxygen-demanding wastes (largely carbonaceous organic material, the decomposition of which leads to oxygen depletion).
• Infectious agents.
• Plant nutrients that can stimulate the growth of aquatic plants, which then interfere with water uses and, when decaying, deplete the dissolved oxygen and produce disagreeable odours.
• Exotic organic chemicals, including pesticides, various industrial products, surface-active substances in detergents, and the decomposition products of other organic compounds.
• Petroleum, especially from oil spills.
• Inorganic minerals and chemical compounds.
• Sediments consisting of soil and mineral particles washed by storms and floodwater from croplands, unprotected soils, mine workings, roads, and bulldozed urban areas.
• Radioactive substances from the wastes of uranium and thorium mining and refining, from nuclear power plants, and from the industrial, medical, and scientific use of radioactive materials.
Heat may also be considered a pollutant when increased temperatures in bodies of water result from the discharge of cooling water by factories and power plants.

EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTION
Notable effects of water pollution include those involved in human health. Nitrates (the salts of nitric acid) in drinking water can cause a disease in infants that sometimes results in death. Cadmium in sludge-derived fertilizer can be absorbed by crops; if ingested in sufficient amounts, the metal can cause an acute diarrhoeal disorder and liver and kidney damage. The hazardous nature of inorganic substances such as mercury, arsenic, and lead has long been known or strongly suspected.
Lakes are especially vulnerable to pollution. One problem, eutrophication, occurs when lake water becomes artificially enriched with nutrients, causing abnormal plant growth. Run-off of chemical fertilizer from cultivated fields may trigger this. The process of eutrophication can produce aesthetic problems such as bad tastes and odours and unsightly green scums of algae, as well as dense growth of rooted plants, oxygen depletion in the deeper waters and bottom sediments of lakes, and other chemical changes such as precipitation of calcium carbonate in hard waters. Another problem, of growing concern in recent years, is acid rain, which has left many lakes in northern and eastern Europe and north-eastern North America totally devoid of life.

SOURCES AND CONTROL
The major sources of water pollution can be classified as municipal, industrial, and agricultural.
Municipal water pollution consists of wastewater from homes and commercial establishments. For many years, the main goal of municipal sewage disposal was simply to reduce its content of suspended solids, oxygen-demanding materials, dissolved inorganic compounds (particularly compounds of phosphorus and nitrogen), and harmful bacteria. In recent years, however, more stress has been placed on improving the means of disposal of the solid residues from municipal treatment processes. The basic methods of treating municipal wastewater fall into three stages: primary treatment, including grit removal, screening, grinding, flocculation (aggregation of the solids), and sedimentation; secondary treatment, which entails oxidation of dissolved organic matter by means of biologically active sludge, which is then filtered off; and tertiary treatment, in which advanced biological methods of nitrogen removal and chemical and physical methods such as granular filtration and activated carbon adsorption are employed. The handling and disposal of solid residues can account for 25 to 50 per cent of the capital and operational costs of a treatment plant.
The characteristics of industrial wastewaters can differ markedly both within and among industries. The impact of industrial discharges depends not only on their collective characteristics, such as biochemical oxygen demand and the amount of suspended solids, but also on their content of specific inorganic and organic substances. Three options (which are not mutually exclusive) are available in controlling industrial wastewater. Control can take place at the point of generation within the plant; wastewater can be pretreated for discharge to municipal treatment systems; or wastewater can be treated completely at the plant and either reused or discharged directly into receiving waters.
Agriculture, including commercial livestock and poultry farming, is the source of many organic and inorganic pollutants in surface waters and groundwater. These contaminants include both sediment from the erosion of cropland and compounds of phosphorus and nitrogen that partly originate in animal wastes and commercial fertilizers. Animal wastes are high in oxygen-demanding material, nitrogen, and phosphorus, and they often harbour pathogenic organisms. Wastes from commercial feeders are contained and disposed of on land; their main threat to natural waters, therefore, is via run-off and leaching. Control may involve settling basins for liquids, limited biological treatment in aerobic or anaerobic lagoons, and a variety of other methods.

Lowest Child Sex Ratio Ever

Child sex ratio, measures the number of girls for every 1,000 boys in the 0-6 years age group.

According to the 2011 census of India we can find the worst child sex ratio ever, after India became independent. The  child sex ratio of India stands at 914. And what exactly does this mean? Indian's are still preferring male child over the female child. Does female foeticide, abortion etc... exist? It is really a question worth asking.

so what can we do?

India still lags behind in basic education and health facilities, and there lies the solution too Educate the masses and provide them good health facilities. Educating the girl child is very important too.

I'll upload a detailed analysis of India's Census 2011 in a few days.

The Era of Psycho's

Yesterday, I experienced it.... A total traffic block. No space to move, everyone waiting to move a centimeter.

Enter Psychos....

These people just can't wait in line.... violating the traffic rules they drive through the wrong side and they seem to enjoy their heroism... if it was motorbikes alone, one could understand..... but it was pathetic even cars, SUV's, pick up trucks ... yeah!! they were all hero's and those obeying the rules - dumb fools!

finally after an hour something happened and we could move.

If this trend continues, I'm sorry to say that We won't ever be a developed nation.

                                                               Hail Psycho's!!

Road Development Process.....{direct from Nalanchira}

Trivandrum,Kerala: The MC(Main Central) Road Development and Widening - The sacrifices made by people for a better tomorrow.

Many media's and others may think I'm going to blame this project and the state government...... Sad news for those who think so. I'm just placing  pictures to prove that this generation young, middle aged and old are willing to sacrifice their time, .......
   for such a cause  ................

But surely, the Govt could have done it better. They should have improved the roads running parallel to the MC road for easy transportation.
